We are experienced in all aspects of pool and spa electrical work, including pumps and water systems, delivering safe, compliant, and long-lasting solutions.

Pool, spa, and water system installations require specialised knowledge. Choosing an electrician familiar with these systems ensures your equipment operates efficiently and safely, year-round.

Things to consider

Power Requirements

Pools and spas often require dedicated electrical circuits. Heat pumps, filters, lighting, and spa jets all have different load demands. You may need upgrades to the switchboard to ensure safe, compliant supply.

Location of Equipment

Pumps, filters, and heaters should be positioned on a stable, level surface, in a well-ventilated area, With enough space for servicing and future upgrades. Consider noise levels if the system is near bedrooms or neighbours.

Compliance & Safety

Installations must follow NZ electrical standards and local council requirements. All work should be completed and signed off by a licensed electrician. Spa and pool zones require RCD protection and correct cable selection for wet areas.

Distance From the Pool

Longer distances between the pool and pump can reduce pump efficiency, increase running costs and require larger pipe sizing. Ideally, equipment should be located as close as practicable.

Load Management & Efficiency

For larger installs consider energy-efficient components such as, variable-speed pumps, LED pool lights, efficient heat pump systems. These reduce day-to-day running costs.

Water Circulation & Filtration

Flow rate must match the pool size and type. Filtration systems need correct plumbing and electrical connections to avoid low flow, air leaks, pump strain or overheating

Heating System Requirements

Heat pumps and spa heaters require adequate, power supply & ventilation

Oversized or undersized heating will affect performance and efficiency.

Weather Protection

Pumps and electrical components must be sheltered from rain and sun. Outdoor-rated enclosures or pump sheds may be needed.

Integration With Existing Systems

Walker Electrotec can install smart controllers, timers, and automation systems. â€‹
