Are LED bulbs worth it?

We agree with Consumer NZ who write: An LED bulb costs about $22, while the equivalent incandescent costs just 50 cents. But the energy efficiency of an LED means its initial cost will pay off in just over a year – and the bulb will continue to work for another 12 years.

Would you pay the high initial price for an LED in order to save money and energy later?
